ORGANIZACIÓN MUNDIAL DEL COMERCIO: VIEJOS DILEMAS Y NUEVOS RETOS

Resumen

El artículo que se presenta evalúa los principales resultados de la décima Conferencia
Ministerial  de  la  Organización  Mundial  del  Comercio  (OMC),  con  referencias  a
problemas acumulados y otras cuestiones de reciente aparición que se suman a los
anteriores.  El  tema  se  presenta  a  través  de  tres  componentes  fundamentales.  En
primer lugar, se ofrece una síntesis de la situación en que la OMC arribó a la décima
Ministerial y a los veinte años de creada como organización. En un segundo momento,
se  hace  referencia  a  los  aportes  de  este  encuentro  en  relación  con  el  trabajo  de  la
OMC y en particular, con la Ronda de Doha. Por último, se identifican y argumentan
algunos de los retos más significativos que enfrenta actualmente la OMC.

Abstract
The present article assesses the main outcomes of the Tenth Ministerial Conference of
the World  Trade  Organization  (WTO),  with  references  to  accumulated  problems  and
other emerging issues in addition to the above.  The theme is presented  through three
fundamental  components. First,  a  summary  of  the  situation  in  the WTO  arrive  at  the
tenth Ministerial Conference is offered. In a second stage, referring to the contributions
of this meeting in relation to the work of the WTO and in particular the Doha Rounddoes. Finally, they identify and argue some of the most significant challenges currently
facing the WTO.
